Dr Tuulikki Sokka-Isler is Head doctor of Rheumatology at Jyväskylä Central Hospital, Jyväskylä, Professor in Rheumatology for University of Eastern Finland, Faculty of Health Sciences, Kuopio, Finland.

Dr Sokka’s research interests include long-term outcomes of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. She has conducted a multi-national project which monitors patients with rheumatoid arthritis as part of routine clinical care (QUEST-RA). Dr Sokka graduated from Tampere University Medical School, Tampere, Finland, in 1985. She was awarded her doctorate degree in 1999 and her docent degree in 2003, from Kuopio University, Kuopio, Finland.

In January 1986 Dr Sokka joined the rheumatology clinic at Jyväskylä Central Hospital, Jyväskylä, Finland.

Between 1999 and 2006 she worked with Dr Ted Pincus at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. She has collaborated with Dr Hannu Kautiainen at Medcare, Äänekoski, Finland. Dr Sokka is on the editorial boards of many rheumatology journals and she has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles in international medical journals.

In January 2016, Dr. Sokka was bestowed the prestigious "Otto Wegelius Prize" from the "Finska Läkaresällskapet".
